A versatile piece to match with any outfit: but pay attention to the occasions of use
The men's shirt is therefore a garment that can be considered a sort of wild card. In fact, it goes well under a jacket for a formal engagement, or with a pullover, a simple sweater or a cardigan when you want to be more comfortable. But it is also fine worn alone for informal occasions, in the summer or when the weather starts to get milder. However, let's try to understand what is the best way to wear it. In the case of combining it with a jacket: if the latter is blue or gray, the shirt can be plain for formal engagements while patterns or checks or even stripes can be used for more casual events. Formality also includes the combination of a tie, together with the jacket (both in a suit and in a mismatched outfit), while in free time you can keep the shirt slightly open (never beyond the second button, however). In the office, if you don't like wearing a tie, you can opt for a V-neck sweater or a vest, to complete your shirt, even if it is patterned.
Some little rules to follow to never make a mistake
When you wear your shirt under your sweater, whether it is crew neck or V-neck, remember that the collar of the shirt should never stick out too much.
While a crew neck sweater is undoubtedly more sporty, under the “V” neckline you can also wear a tie. Under a cardigan, on the other hand, a patterned or denim shirt can also go well.
In or out of the pants? It depends on the context
And what about trousers? Should the shirt be tucked in or out? In this case, the rule to follow is that of the context. If you are at an event, a ceremony or a job interview, it is absolutely unthinkable to wear it outside your trousers. In the office, it is advisable to keep it tucked in your trousers, whether they are classic or jeans, perhaps together with a neat belt. In moments of relaxation and free time, however, you can keep it outside your trousers: for example, checked flannel shirts are nice to show off during a barbeque. In those situations, you can even roll up your sleeves!
